CSI Policy Statement
BETA HOLDINGS, as a responsible corporate citizen, will drive social and economic developments which achieve business objectives through initiatives that make a positive and sustainable impact in the areas of education, health and disability as well as the environment.
BETA in the Community
BETA HOLDINGS strives to have a positive and sustainable impact on the economic and social development in the markets in which it operates by supporting the following 3 pillars:
Education – BETA HOLDINGS understands the vital role education plays in the upliftment of communities in Africa and so supports educational projects particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics that improve the quality of education and widen access among rural and disadvantage communities.
Health and Disability – HIV and Aids, Malaria, Water borne diseases and disabilities remain an area of concern in our communities and a pillar of focus for BETA HOLDINGS.
Environment- BETA HOLDINGS is cognisant of the fact that we only have one earth and therefore pledges to support sustainable green initiatives that reduce the impact of industrialisation and preserve the environment.
BETA HOLDINGS has therefore developed a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy that, through our 3 pillars, aligns to our overall mission vision and values and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to operate with integrity and builds trust.
We currently employ 600 people mainly from Mount Hampden and the surrounding areas. We are constantly striving to sustain and support our employees in every possible way. To this end, our staff are housed in clean and comfortable executive quarters or company compound houses.
We at Beta Holdings also provide welfare programmes for our staff in the form of medical and funeral assistance, pension and housing schemes as well as skills development training and educational sponsorship.
TOSE Respite Care Home caters for people with multiple disabilities, with most of the patients suffering from brain damage and other severe disabilities. Tose was established in 1991 to provide 24-hour care, similar to a home environment, to members of society who are often neglected or hidden from public view.
Various local donors including the Spanish Embassy and Old Mutual have financed Tose.
Beta Holdings has been providing assistance to Tose for the past 5 years through an annual financial contribution and we also assist in raising funds at our annual Beta Golf day.
A BETA DAY
We are constantly moving forward in strengthening our community activities. One of the ways in which we are doing this is through Beta Day, a new outreach programme launched with the purpose of enhancing the lives of those in need.
Beta Holding staff spend a day volunteering with local communities, working on various projects as needed.
The inaugural project for the Beta Day Outreach Programme was at the Mutemwa Leprosy Centre. We helped out with a volunteer day and also helped settle a portion of their operational bills. We hope to continue to positively influence the lives of other less fortunate individuals within our community.
